The Central Bank of Bahrain was established September 6, 2006 under the Central Bank of Bahrain and Financial Institutions Law, replacing the former Bahrain Monetary Agency. Headquartered in Manama's Diplomatic Area, it issues and manages the Bahraini dinar, supervises and regulates the kingdom's banking and financial sector, acts as the government's fiscal agent, and works to promote Bahrain's development as an international financial center. Khalid Humaidan has served as governor since February 2024, succeeding Rasheed Mohammed Al Maraj.
