The Central Bank of the Republic of San Marino (CBSM) is the financial supervisory authority of San Marino, established in 2005 through the merger of the San Marino Credit Institute and the Inspectorate for Credit and Currencies, and headquartered on Via del Voltone in the City of San Marino. Because San Marino uses the euro rather than its own currency it is not a fully-fledged central bank; its responsibilities instead cover supervising the banking, financial and insurance sectors, providing financial services to the state, supporting the financial system and maintaining reliable payment systems.
