The Central Bank of Montenegro (Centralna banka Crne Gore, CBCG) is the central bank of Montenegro, established in November 2000 and headquartered in Podgorica; it began operations on March 15, 2001. Montenegro does not issue its own currency and unilaterally adopted the euro in 2002, so the bank does not participate in the European System of Central Banks and instead tracks European Central Bank policy while maintaining a sound banking system, supervising banks and the payment system, and working toward Montenegro's eventual accession to the Eurozone.
