Croatian National Bank

The Croatian National Bank is Croatia's national central bank within the Eurosystem, headquartered in Zagreb in a building designed by architect Viktor Kovacic for the former Zagreb Stock and Commodity Exchange and opened in 1927. Originally established in 1971 as part of Yugoslavia's banking system, it became Croatia's own central bank when the country's constitution designated it as such on December 21, 1990, following full independence in late 1991. It issued Croatia's currency, first the dinar until 1994 and then the kuna, until the country adopted the euro in 2023, after which monetary policy passed to the European Central Bank while the bank retained supervisory and regulatory functions.
