The Central Bank of Solomon Islands is the country's central bank, established in February 1983 under the Central Bank of Solomon Islands Act 1976, which converted the former Solomon Islands Monetary Authority into a central bank; it is headquartered in Honiara. Wholly state-owned, it determines monetary policy, manages exchange rates and internal reserves, issues the Solomon Islands dollar, and regulates financial institutions, holding foreign reserves of about 480 million dollars.
