The Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador was founded June 19, 1934 and is headquartered in San Salvador, controlling the country's currency and regulating certain economic activity. It issued the Salvadoran colon until El Salvador adopted the United States dollar under the Monetary Integration Law of 2000, and the bank has since operated without a monetary policy of its own.
