The Bank of the Republic of Haiti is Haiti's central bank, established on August 17, 1979 as successor to the National Bank of the Republic of Haiti, which had served as the country's bank of issue since 1910. Wholly state-owned and headquartered in Port-au-Prince, it manages the Haitian gourde and monetary policy, holds foreign currency reserves of about 1.82 billion dollars, and promotes financial inclusion as a member of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion.
