Central Banks and Monetary Authorities

The Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) is the integrated regulator of Bermuda's financial services sector, established on February 20, 1969 and headquartered in Hamilton. It is not a central bank and provides no lender-of-last-resort facility; instead it supervises banks, insurance companies, investment businesses and funds, issues the Bermudian dollar and manages exchange controls for a jurisdiction that serves as a leading reinsurance hub and offshore financial center.
