Daniel Kahneman was an Israeli-American psychologist who shared the 2002 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with Vernon L. Smith for integrating insights from psychology into economics, particularly regarding human judgment and decision making under uncertainty. With Amos Tversky, Kahneman developed prospect theory, one of the most cited frameworks in economics, describing how people actually evaluate potential gains and losses rather than how a purely rational actor would. His 2011 book Thinking, Fast and Slow brought this research to a wide public audience and helped establish behavioral economics as a major field within the discipline.
