SME Rating Agency of India

SMERA, formally the SME Rating Agency of India, is an Indian credit rating agency that specializes in evaluating small and medium-sized enterprises. It was established in 2005 as a government initiative of India's Ministry of Finance and the Reserve Bank of India, and it is headquartered in Mumbai. SMERA operates as a subsidiary of Acuite Ratings & Research Limited, itself registered with India's Securities and Exchange Board as a credit rating agency and formed through collaboration among the Small Industries Development Bank of India, Dun & Bradstreet, Standard Chartered, ICICI and major Indian public sector banks. The agency provides credit ratings and related services to small and medium enterprises, including credit due diligence and microfinance grading.
