Credit Information Corporation

The Credit Information Corporation is a government owned and controlled corporation that operates the national credit information system of the Philippines. It was established in 2008 under the Credit Information System Act to build a centralized system for collecting and sharing accurate credit related information on borrowers, drawing on data from banks, financial institutions, insurance companies, financing companies, credit cooperatives and utility companies. The corporation aims to improve the availability of credit, particularly for micro, small and medium enterprises, lower reliance on collateral, and reduce overall credit risk for lenders, while ensuring credit information is provided to all participants at minimal cost and that consumer rights and fair competition are protected.
