Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh Limited

The Credit Rating Agency of Bangladesh Limited, known as CRAB, is the leading credit rating company in Bangladesh. It is accredited by Bangladesh Bank, the country's central bank, to rate financial institutions and companies under the Basel 2 and Basel 3 capital adequacy frameworks, and it is also accredited by the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority of Bangladesh to rate insurance companies. CRAB operates as a technical partner of the Indian credit rating firm ICRA Limited and was established with investment from prominent Bangladeshi industrial, business and institutional figures. By 2014 it had rated more than 4,000 entities and financial instruments across industries including textiles, pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, banking and utilities.
