The Philippine Rating Services Corporation, known as PhilRatings, is a credit rating agency in the Philippines. It was established in 1982 as part of the Credit Information Bureau, Inc., a joint initiative of the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission, the Central Bank of the Philippines and the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines, and it began assigning ratings in 1985. PhilRatings became an independent entity in 1998 while remaining wholly owned by the CIBI Foundation, and it is an affiliate of Standard & Poor's. Based in Makati, it evaluates creditworthiness across bonds, commercial paper, banking institutions, local government units, project financing and asset-backed securities.
