TRIS Rating

TRIS Rating, formally the Thai Rating and Information Services Co., Ltd., is Thailand's first credit rating agency, founded in 1993 at the initiative of the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Thailand to support development of the domestic bond market. It was reorganized in 2007, when the original company was renamed TRIS Corporation Limited, while TRIS Rating Co., Ltd. continued as an independent rating entity that had already been established as a separate company on June 3, 2002; it is headquartered in Bangkok. Standard & Poor's took a five percent stake in TRIS Corp in November 2011 and raised its holding in TRIS Rating itself to 49 percent in June 2016, and the agency provides credit ratings, information services and business services to Thailand's capital markets.
