The Global Gender Gap Report is an index published by the World Economic Forum, first released in 2006, that assesses how well countries divide resources and opportunities between their male and female populations regardless of the overall level of those resources. Its Gender Gap Index evaluates each country across four areas: economic participation and opportunity, educational attainment, political empowerment, and health and survival. The report is intended to serve as a catalyst for greater awareness of gender disparities and to encourage exchange between policymakers working to close them.
