Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States

International Monetary and Trade Organizations

The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States is an intergovernmental organisation of Eastern Caribbean nations established on 18 June 1981 by the Treaty of Basseterre to pursue economic harmonisation and integration, protection of human and legal rights, and good governance among its members. It has seven full protocol members, Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, plus five associate members, and helps its members respond jointly to the pressures of globalisation and trade liberalisation. Eight of its members share the Eastern Caribbean dollar as a currency union, and the organisation is headquartered in Castries, Saint Lucia.
