Comprehensive Program for Socialist Economic Integration

International Monetary and Trade Organizations

The Comprehensive Program for Socialist Economic Integration was adopted in 1971, setting the guidelines for the activity of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance, or Comecon, through 1990. Comecon in practice remained a mixed system combining planned and market elements, since its member states continued to interact through bilateral and multilateral trade agreements rather than through any supranational planning authority.
