Poland's Ministry of Finance was established in 1918 as the newly independent Polish state rebuilt its government institutions, and today is headquartered on Swietokrzyska Street in Warsaw, in a building constructed between 1953 and 1956 in the socialist realist style and registered as a historic monument in 2012. It drafts the national budget, administers the tax system through roughly 400 local tax offices and sixteen regional revenue administrations, finances local self-government, and oversees public debt. Andrzej Domanski currently serves as finance minister.
