Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Finance traces its origin to the General Directorate of Finance created in 1927, which Royal Order No. 381 renamed the Ministry of Finance on May 14, 1932. Headquartered in Riyadh, it is the kingdom's principal body for controlling state expenditure, regulating the collection of state funds and zakat from companies, and managing the government's general financial affairs. Mohammed Al-Jadaan has served as finance minister since November 1, 2016.
