The Federal Department of Finance is one of the seven departments of the Swiss federal government, headquartered in Bern and headed by a member of the Swiss Federal Council serving as Switzerland's finance minister. It was created in 1848 as the Department of Finance, renamed the Department of Finance and Customs in 1873, and took its present name in 1978.
