It prepares the Union Budget and oversees taxation, financial legislation, financial institutions, capital markets, currency and banking, and it administers four central civil services: the Indian Revenue Service, the Indian Audit and Accounts Service, the Indian Economic Service and the Indian Civil Accounts Service.
