Bangladesh Development Bank PLC is a state owned commercial bank in Bangladesh, formed on January 3, 2010 as a public limited company through the merger of two earlier development finance institutions, the Bangladesh Shilpa Bank and the Bangladesh Shilpa Rin Sangstha. Wholly owned by the Government of Bangladesh, it extends financial assistance for industrial development alongside ordinary commercial banking services, operating 51 branches nationwide and serving as a development partner to both public and private financial sectors with long, medium, and short term financing.
