Bank of Industry Limited (BOI) is the oldest and largest operating Development Finance Institution in Nigeria, founded in 1959 as the Investment Corporation of Nigeria before becoming the Nigerian Industrial Development Bank in 1964 and merging with other institutions in 2001 to form its current entity. It is government owned, with the Ministry of Finance Incorporated holding 94.80 percent, the Central Bank of Nigeria 5.19 percent, and private shareholders the remainder, and it provides development financing for industrial growth, administering intervention funds and social programs to support small and medium enterprises and informal sector participants.
