Caisse des depots et consignations

The Caisse des depots et consignations (CDC) is a French public financial institution established in 1816 as the investment arm of the French state, created by Finance Minister Louis-Emmanuel Corvetto under King Louis XVIII to manage deposits, consignments, pension funds, and Legion of Honour accounts after the Caisse de garantie et d'amortissement of Napoleon was liquidated. It operates under parliamentary rather than executive control and by 2022 managed about 1.32 trillion euro in total assets, including a 66 percent stake in the postal service La Poste and significant positions in transportation, energy, real estate, and banking. It is a founding member of the D20 Long-Term Investors Club and takes part in the European Long Term Investors association.
