The National Development Bank, known in Polish as Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego or BGK, is a state owned Polish national development bank headquartered in Warsaw. It was established in 1924 on the initiative of Treasury Minister Wladyslaw Grabski through the merger of three public banks from the Galicia region, and its core functions include supporting and servicing export transactions, issuing government guarantees and providing housing support. Its operations were sharply reduced after the Second World War and reactivated in 1989.
