The Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) is a state owned development finance institution created by the Government of Bahrain to promote investment in the country. It was established under Legislative Decree number 19 on December 11, 1991 and began banking operations on January 20, 1992. Registered with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce and licensed by the Central Bank of Bahrain, it provides business finance, Islamic financing, and other services to small and medium sized enterprises in sectors such as manufacturing, agribusiness, and healthcare, with all of its shares held by the government.
