The Development Bank of Rwanda, known by its French acronym BRD for Banque Rwandaise de Developpement, is a parastatal development institution incorporated on August 5, 1967 and licensed by the National Bank of Rwanda. It provides long term financial services in support of national development, and as of 2011 its total assets were about 122 million US dollars. It is structured as a public company whose shares are held by the government of Rwanda, Rwandan public enterprises, private institutions and international development finance organizations including the French Development Agency, the German Investment Corporation and the Netherlands Development Finance Company.
