Qatar Investment Authority

National Treasuries and Fiscal Authorities

The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is Qatar's sovereign wealth fund, established in 2005 by then-emir Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani to manage the country's oil and natural gas surpluses and reduce its economic dependence on energy revenues. It invests internationally across the United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific as well as in non-energy sectors within Qatar, operating through subsidiaries including Qatar Holding and the real-estate arm Qatari Diar alongside holdings in telecommunications, hospitality, banking and food security. As of 2026 QIA controlled several hundred billion US dollars in assets under management, ranking among the world's largest sovereign wealth funds.
