The Russian National Wealth Fund is Russia's sovereign wealth fund, established on January 30, 2008 when the Stabilization Fund of the Russian Federation was split into two separate investment funds, and it is controlled by the Russian Ministry of Finance. It receives funds from investment returns and any excess oil and gas revenues, with its main responsibilities including support for Russia's pension system and funding budget deficits; the government may spend from it once liquid assets exceed 7 percent of gross domestic product. As of February 2024 it held total assets of 130.8 billion US dollars.
