Mumtalakat is the sovereign wealth fund of the Kingdom of Bahrain, established by royal decree on June 29, 2006 and wholly owned by the Bahraini government. Headquartered in Manama, it invests across diverse sectors including education, aviation, healthcare and financial services rather than concentrating on oil or gas, and held approximately 17.6 billion US dollars in assets under management as of December 2024. The fund's international investments have grown over time, from about 3 percent of its portfolio invested abroad at its founding to roughly 30 percent by 2019, spanning Europe, the United States and the Middle East and North Africa region.
