It receives funds from investment returns and any excess oil and gas revenues, with its main responsibilities including support for Russia's pension system and funding budget deficits; the government may spend from it once liquid assets exceed 7 percent of gross domestic product. As of February 2024 it held total assets of 130.8 billion US dollars.
