Temasek Holdings is a Singaporean state-owned investment company incorporated on June 25, 1974 to consolidate investments previously held directly by the Singapore government, allowing the country's finance and trade ministries to focus on policymaking rather than managing individual holdings. Wholly owned by Singapore's Minister for Finance as its sole shareholder, Temasek invests mostly in equities and is the outright owner of many of its portfolio companies, distinguishing it from typical sovereign wealth funds by paying taxes like other commercial investment firms. It has held the top Aaa/AAA credit rating from Moody's and Standard & Poor's since 2004.
