The German Economic Institute (known in Germany as the Institut der deutschen Wirtschaft Koln, or IW) is a private economic research institute in Germany that promotes an economic liberal order. It is headquartered in Cologne, with satellite offices in Berlin and Brussels, and functions as the research arm of the Association of Industrial Companies, combining research, consulting and communications work; Michael Huther serves as its director.
