Institute for New Economic Thinking

The Institute for New Economic Thinking is a New York City based nonprofit think tank founded in October 2009 in response to the 2007 to 2009 financial crisis, with an initial fifty million dollar pledge from George Soros and co-founders William Janeway and James Balsillie. It launched at King's College, Cambridge, a nod to the college's most famous alumnus, John Maynard Keynes, and it promotes pluralism in economics by supporting scholars across post-Keynesian, New Keynesian, Modern Monetary Theory, and Marxian traditions. The institute funds affiliated programs at universities including Cambridge and Oxford and maintains an office in London in addition to its New York headquarters.
