Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies (WIIW)

The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies is a non partisan, nonprofit economic research institute based in Vienna, Austria that specializes in the economies of Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe. It was established in 1972 and monitors and researches twenty three countries in the region, including Russia, Ukraine, the Visegrad countries, the Balkans, and Turkey. Its research covers macroeconomics, trade, competitiveness, investment, European integration, regional development, labour markets, migration, and income distribution, and as of 2020 it operated with a budget of about 3.7 million euros and roughly 40 staff, making it the third largest economic research institution in Austria.
