The Bureau of Economic Analysis, known as the BEA, is a United States government agency established on January 1, 1972, operating under the Department of Commerce to provide official macroeconomic and industry statistics, most notably the gross domestic product. It publishes data on GDP, personal income, corporate profits, government spending and international trade through its National Income and Product Accounts, and it employs about 500 people on an annual budget of roughly 101 million dollars from its headquarters in Suitland, Maryland.
