The Singapore Exchange was formed December 1, 1999 as a holding company merging the Stock Exchange of Singapore, the Singapore International Monetary Exchange founded in 1984, and Securities Clearing and Computer Services. Headquartered at SGX Centre in Singapore, it operates equity, fixed income, currency and commodity markets alongside listing, clearing, settlement and depository services, and it went public itself in November 2000, becoming only the third exchange in the Asia-Pacific region to list via a public offer, after Australia's exchange in 1998 and Hong Kong's in 2000. As of mid-2026 it carried a market capitalization of about 644.8 billion US dollars across 776 total listings.
