The Central Bank of Liberia is the country's central bank, headquartered in Monrovia and established by legislative act on October 18, 1999, beginning operations in 2000 as successor to the National Bank of Liberia, which had operated since 1974. Wholly state-owned, it manages the Liberian dollar and holds foreign reserves of about 260 million dollars, and it belongs to the Alliance for Financial Inclusion.
