The Central Bank of The Gambia is the country's central bank, established in 1971 and headquartered on Ecowas Avenue in Banjul. Wholly state-owned, it provides banking services to the government, oversees interest rates and foreign exchange operations, supports microfinance, holds the exclusive right to issue the Gambian dalasi, manages government bonds and treasury bills, and conducts economic research on the Gambia and West Africa.
