The Central Bank of the Congo is the central bank of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, headquartered in the Gombe district of Kinshasa. Formally established on July 30, 1951 as the Central Bank of the Belgian Congo and Rwanda-Urundi, it was restructured and renamed in 2002; wholly state-owned, it sets monetary policy toward price stability, issues the Congolese franc, supervises the banking system, manages official foreign exchange and gold reserves, acts as the state's cashier, and belongs to the Alliance for Financial Inclusion.
