The Eastern Caribbean dollar is the currency shared by the seven full members and one associate member of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States: Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Anguilla and Montserrat. It replaced the British West Indies dollar and has circulated since 1965. The currency is issued by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, headquartered in Basseterre, Saint Kitts and Nevis, and has been pegged to the United States dollar since July 7, 1976, at a fixed rate of 2.70 Eastern Caribbean dollars to one US dollar.

In 1965, the British West Indies dollar of the now defunct West Indies Federation was replaced at par by the Eastern Caribbean dollar and the BCCB was replaced by the Eastern Caribbean Currency Authority or ECCA
