Institut International d Etudes Bancaires

The Institut International d Etudes Bancaires is a private association, founded April 6, 1951 as part of the postwar European integration movement, that brings together the chief executives of major European banks. It was founded by Credit Industriel et Commercial, Union Bank of Switzerland, Societe Generale de Belgique and Amsterdamsche Bank, and it remains deliberately secretive: it maintains no public website and does not disclose its membership, meeting instead twice a year for three-day conferences where bank chief executives hold private discussions.
