MIKTA

MIKTA is an informal middle power partnership among Mexico, Indonesia, South Korea, Turkey and Australia, created on September 25, 2013 on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City to support effective global governance, and it is led by the member states' foreign ministers. Its diverse membership spans different cultures, socio-economic structures and geographic regions, and all five members are G20 economies with comparable GDP levels, sharing an interest in ensuring global governance systems function equitably regardless of a nation's size or influence. The partnership operates informally, without requiring consensus, which its members describe as one of its key strengths in addressing fast-moving global developments.
