Bloomberg US Aggregate Bond Index

Money, Credit and Financial Markets

The Bloomberg US Aggregate Bond Index tracks intermediate term investment grade bonds traded in the United States, encompassing investment grade corporate debt, government debt, mortgage backed securities, and asset backed securities, with each included bond required to carry an investment grade rating, at least 100 million dollars in par value, and a minimum maturity of one year. Bloomberg L.P. has maintained the index since August 2016; it was previously run by Barclays as the Barclays Capital Aggregate Bond Index starting in November 2008, and before that by Lehman Brothers as the Lehman Aggregate Bond Index. Investors widely use the index as a stand in for the performance of the overall United States bond market.
