NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index

Housing and Construction

The NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index is a monthly gauge of United States home builder sentiment, produced by the National Association of Home Builders in partnership with Wells Fargo from a survey of about nine hundred home builders. Builders are asked to rate current sales of single family homes, expected sales over the next six months and the traffic of prospective buyers, and their answers are combined into a weighted score running from zero to one hundred, where a reading above fifty indicates builders view conditions as favorable and a reading below fifty indicates a negative outlook. The index is a widely followed leading indicator of activity in the housing market.
