Gunnar Myrdal (1898-1987) was a Swedish economist and sociologist associated with the Stockholm School. He shared the 1974 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences with Friedrich Hayek for work on money and economic fluctuations. He is also known for An American Dilemma, his landmark study of race relations in the United States, and for development economics work on cumulative causation.
