Paul Krugman (born 1953) is an American economist and columnist. He won the 2008 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for his work on new trade theory and new economic geography, explaining trade patterns and the location of economic activity through increasing returns to scale. He has been long associated with Princeton University and later the City University of New York.
