The Eurasian Development Bank is an international multilateral financial institution established by Russia and Kazakhstan on 12 January 2006 and operating since that June, created to promote market development, economic growth and closer trade ties among its member states through investment in infrastructure, energy, agriculture and related sectors. Its membership has since grown to seven countries, Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Uzbekistan, with Russia and Kazakhstan holding the largest capital shares. The bank is headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan, with a charter capital of seven billion dollars, of which one and a half billion is paid in.
