The Common Economic Space of the Commonwealth of Independent States is the aim, and the ongoing process, of economic integration among the post-Soviet states that formed the Commonwealth of Independent States under the agreement signed on 8 December 1991. Article 7 of that founding agreement commits members to cooperate in building a common economic space and common Eurasian markets, coordinating policy on customs, transport, communications, environmental protection and migration, though participation in specific measures has varied by country and some members, including Ukraine and Moldova, have since withdrawn from particular standardisation agreements.
