Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE) is an American multinational financial services company established on May 11, 2000 by Jeffrey Sprecher with backing from major financial institutions, founded to create a more transparent marketplace for trading energy commodities such as natural gas. It has since grown into an operator of global financial exchanges, futures markets and clearing houses, and it owns the New York Stock Exchange. ICE went public in 2005, is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, and reported revenue of 9.931 billion US dollars in 2025 across its exchanges, fixed income and data services, and mortgage technology divisions.
